How a session works

Simple, from arrival to the door.

  1. Arrive

Come in, sit down, take your coat off. Nothing starts until you've stopped.

  2. Assess

You talk, Jac listens. She reads six pulse positions on each wrist, looks at your tongue, and asks about your sleep, your digestion and the last month of your life, which is why two women with the same sore shoulder rarely leave with the same needles.

Then she tells you, in plain English, what she's found.

  3. Needles

Hair-fine, nothing like an injection. Most people feel a small pinprick, then nothing.

  4. Stillness

You lie there. Nobody wants anything from you. For a lot of women this is the first proper stillness in years, and it's the part they talk about afterwards.

  5. Take home

You leave with something to do yourself. Usually a breathing practice, always short enough to actually use.

An honest filter

Who this room is for.

  • ✓You've had back, shoulder or sciatica pain for a couple of weeks and it isn't shifting on its own
  • ✓You can get to Bassingbourn, just outside Royston
  • ✓You want ninety unhurried minutes, not a fifteen-minute appointment with your coat still on
  • ✓You'd rather understand what your body is doing than be told to relax more

Not yet if

  • ✗You want a diagnosis, or treatment for a named condition. That's your GP, and Jac will say so
  • ✗You're hoping one session undoes ten years
  • ✗You can't get to Bassingbourn
  • ✗You'd rather skip the Introduction Session and be squeezed in for a quick one

Questions people actually ask

Before you book.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most clients describe a brief pinprick as the needle goes in, then very little at all. The needles are hair-fine, nothing like an injection needle. Many people find the sessions genuinely relaxing, sometimes the first real stillness they've felt in a long time.

What should I wear?

Something loose and comfortable, if you have it. It makes the treatment easier and you more relaxed. Arrival details come with your booking confirmation, so there's nothing to work out on the day.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what's going on, and how long it's been going on. Some people feel a shift after one. For something that's been building for years, a few sessions close together usually work better than one and hope. Jac will tell you what she thinks after the Introduction Session, and you decide from there.

Why do I pay when I book?

Because it changes how the session goes. A slot that's been paid for gets kept, prepared for, and turned up to. Jac holds ninety minutes for one person and doesn't double-book, so the payment is what makes that possible. If your plans change, get in touch and she'll sort it out with you.

Where are you?

Bassingbourn, near Royston. Full address on booking. Jac sees clients from Royston, the South Cambridgeshire villages, and Cambridge, about 30 minutes away.

Can I be seen this week?

Often, yes. The diary opens up to two weeks ahead, and if you're in pain there are priority slots within 48 hours. Get in touch and Jac will find the earliest space that works.
